Prof. Ching Lin Pang teaches courses relatedto China , globalisation, migration and identityin the Faculty of Social Sciences (Anthropology and Political Science) atK.U.Leuven and in the Business Department at HEC-ULg. Her research topicsconcern migration (policies), motilities and intercultural flows between and inChina and Belgium/EU embedded in the metropolitan context, Anthropology ofidentity and migration from an everyday perspective, cultural globalisation inthe urban setting: translocal entrepreneurship, development of ethnic precinctssuch as Chinatowns in European countries, placemaking; the (re)making of'Chinese-ness', 'Korean-ness', etc. with geographical focuses on Europe:Chinese (Mainland Chinese, Taiwanese), Indians and South Koreans in theBelgian/European setting; China: identity, mobility of majority and minoritiesin China: Beijing, Canton, Shanghai, Yiwu, Yunnan Province; Mobility andtranslocal movements: Shanghai-Canton-Kinshasa; Beijing-Brussels. She is memberof different European and Asian networks in the area of anthropology, ethnicity,urban studies and development. As a diaspora Chinese, based in Brussels she speaks fluently Dutch, French, English, Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese)and Japanese.
